SI Opry Eclipse Show
August 19, 2017

Herrin Civic Center | 07:30 pm - 09:30 pm

The SI Opry will open with bluegrass music from Opry Members Cassie Andrews & Calico Creek.  Members include: Cassie Andrews, banjo and vocals; Becky Peters, guitar and vocals; Ron Cobb, upright bass; and Danny Robinson, guitar, mandolin, and vocals.

Gospel group, Judah, will then take the stage.  Judah is comprised of Lisa Knight on vocals and guitar; Lisa Miles, piano; Samantha Austin, rhythm guitar and vocals; Alex Bennet on drums; and Levi Bennett, guitar.

After intermission, Cassie Andrews will present a Tribute to Minnie Pearl.  She will entertain you with all the current happenings in Grinder’s Switch.

Arview on Country will perform a country set.  The musical heritage of the Arview family can trace its roots to patriarch Cecil Arview, who worked in Cook County during the late 1920s.  When work became scarce, Cecil took a job as a musician for infamous gangster Alphonse “Al” Capone. After Capone’s conviction in 1931, Cecil – who had just become a father – moved his young family back home to Southern Illinois.  In the years to come, nearly all of Cecil’s children would learn to play instruments and sing and it became common for the neighbors to come by to sit on the porch and listen to the Arview family play and sing into the evening hours.  As each of the children of Cecil grew to adulthood and had children of their own, they would pass on the tradition until the name Arview became synonymous with musical talent.  This heritage has now passed on into later generations and brings this family of talented individuals now to you. Joe Arview has performed at many venues, such as: the Illinois State Fair, the Du Quoin State Fair, the Troubadour Theatre in Nashville Tennessee, and many NASCAR events.

Tickets for the Opry are $15 and available at the Herrin Civic Center, the Pawn Mart in Herrin, or at the door the night of the event.  Special ticket prices for groups of 10 or more.  Doors open at 6pm.  Food, refreshments, and adult beverages from the bar will be available.  The SI Opry is presented at the Herrin Civic Center the third Saturday of every month, except December.  The next show will be on September 16th, 2017.
