Historical Village Garden Summer Series-Herb Gardening

Herbs are wonderful, multifunctional plants that make a great addition to indoor and outdoor gardens and landscapes.
Incorporating herbs into your home can provide delicious flavors in your cooking, beautiful colors and textures in your landscape, and blooms taht are attractive to beneficial insects like butterflies and bees.
This event is free and presented by Horticulture Extension Educator, Alicia Gardner; in conjuction with the John. A Logan Historical Village Garden Committee.

Kayaking the Refuge Course

Crab Orchard National Wildlife Refuge | 09:00 am
 
Come kayak Crab Orchard NWR's lakes with us!  Get an interpretive tour of the land around you, view wildlife as you pass by, and enjoy the breeze as you kayak out with our rangers.  Boats are limited so if you are not bringing your own be sure to reserve your space.  Ages 15 and up only.  First program begins at 9am.  Second begins at 1pm.

One-third of the fruits and vegetables that we eat come from plants that require animal pollinators. Many of our pollinators, including butterflies and bees, are experiencing significant stresses and population decline.
Join us to learn about gardening practices that you can use to help attract, protect, and support pollinator species.

Summer Reading Program - Animal Tales

Animal Tales will be coming from Kinston Springs, TN to present a program on Animal Architects. 
"Architecture, design, excavating, construction are all performed on a regular basis in Nature. Animal Architects will feature a variety of exotic animals from across the globe that utilize very unique abilities to build and construct as part of survival in the wild. Be prepared to get up-close and personal learning about these very constructive critters."

The Johnston City Library Summer Reading program is presented in partnership with the “Lunch Bunch.” It will be held at the First Freewill Baptist church 609 Monroe Ave, Johnston City, IL 62951. Lunch starts at 11:30 and the Reading Program starts at noon. There is no cost for lunch, but you do not have to attend the Lunch Bunch to enjoy the Reading Program activities.
