Located on the northeast corner of Johnston City, this 35-acre lake includes a paved boat ramp for fishing, walking path, and campground. Only electric motors and canoes are permitted. You will find largemouth bass, bluegill, redear sunfish, black and white crappie, and channel catfish in this small reservoir.

Blue Heron Marina & Campground is Carterville's premier marina located on beautiful Crab Orchard Lake. Established in the early 1940s, the marina includes docks with 137 slips, a boat ramp, club house, and boat rental which includes pontoons, paddle boats, and canoes. The campground includes 34 water and electric sites, primitive tent camping, and a full-service shower house and dump station.

Crab Orchard Lake Campground

This 6,965-acre reservoir is the centerpiece of the Crab Orchard National Wildlife Refuge.  It is fed by Devils Kitchen Lake and Little Grassy Lake, which are also within the Refuge.  The lake offers opportunities for boating, camping, fishing, and swimming.  Two campgrounds, Blue Heron and Crab Orchard, operate on the northern side of the lake.

Little Grassy Lake Campground & Marina sits on Little Grassy Lake, located inside Crab Orchard National Wildlife Refuge.  It offers boating and fishing opportunities where the fisherman is king and the Bass and Crappie are his chief antagonist.  Where 1,000 acres of crystal clear water, 4 miles long, 1 mile wide, up to 80 feet deep and 31 miles of wooded rocky shoreline create the most scenic lake in southern  Illinois.
