DESCRIPTION:Food Works of Southern Illinois and Glaciers End will co-host:\n4th Annual Southern Illinois Soil Health Symposium\nGlaciers End, 104 N Print Ave, Marion, IL 62951\nThursday, March 5th, 2025 from 5:30-8pm\nThe Southern Illinois Soil Health Symposium will be geared towards educating and motivating people to\nlearn more about and take action around soil and water health and the practices that forward these\ncauses. The Soil Health focus this year will be centered around Soil Health Basics for Markets and Home\nGardening.\nOur first speaker will be Southern Illinois horticulture professor, Amanda Weidhuner.\nOur second speaker will be Noah Scalero, owner of BeetRoot Farm in Carbondale, Illinois. BeetRoot\nFarm provides over 30 varieties of fruits, vegetables, herbs, and flowers to the local Carbondale\ncommunity. Scalero is committed to using production practices that are soil building, using no agricultural\nchemicals, low-tillage, cover cropping, and on-farm composting. Learn more about BeetRoot Farm here.
