The Start! Walking program was launched by Southern Illinois Healthcare in collaboration with the American Heart Association to provide to a nice place to walk at local parks and paths across the community. Just look for signs with the green Start!
This well-lit, half-mile walking path is paved with a gentle slope on the north end and encircles the 8-acre Bruce Park.
In the heart of Energy, Bruce Park sits behind city hall just one block east of Route 148.
Walkers, runners, and pets on a leash are welcome.
Amenities – Bruce Park features a playground, covered pavilions, basketball courts, ball diamonds, and soccer fields.
History of Bruce Park – Funds donated by Julia and Carl Bruce helped to develop this spacious and well-maintained park that also features a military memorial and schoolhouse monument.
Hours – The park is open from sunrise to sunset.
