Built in 1959, the Herrin Bowl was a second home for many bowlers in the Southern Illinois area. The bright neon sign on IL148 shown as a beacon to draw in the residents and visitors alike. The LaBottes, who purchased Herrin Bowl in 1998, hoped to keep the family friendly nature of the business just as it had been when the doors opened long ago. However in August of 2002, the bowling alley was destroyed in a fire taking with it 40 years of memories. The family has since rebuilt and the alley is again known as a local hangout with events, tournaments, and much more going on each weekend.
