The soft rolling hills, fertile acreage and a heritage steeped in memories propelled the creation of Walker’s Bluff in 2008. Acquiring land that had been in Cynde Bunch’s family since 1934 was the first step toward what would become Southern Illinois’ premier dining and entertainment venue. The initial plan included building a modest home where the idyllic spring and summer seasons could be enjoyed along with a small vineyard for David to experiment with his passion for wine made from California grapes. A small gazebo was added on the river bluff to host family reunions and weddings. The gazebo quickly became a Sunday retreat for local families who wandered out to enjoy the scenery, fish the stocked streams and, for some, satisfy their curiosity. Always the consummate hosts, they welcomed the steady stream of visitors enjoying their vista, and the positive feedback and community support gave way to the idea of creating an entertainment complex unequaled in the Midwest.

Down a winding road, beyond a luscious vineyard awaits the rustic elegance of the Tasting Room. The beautifully carved full service bar features a wide selection of beers, cocktails, and wines. Relax around the fireplace in comfortable high back lounge chairs or enjoy live music outside near a glowing fire. The Tasting Room is an ideal atmosphere for all occasions. Behind the Tasting Room a small waterfall pours alongside arched double doors with the inscription “Down the Rabbit Hole” welcoming visitors to the Wine Cave. The intriguing tunnel leads visitors into a domed area of the cave with a circular bar. The crowning skylight allows the sun and moon to filter through the cave giving it an intimate feel.

Tranquility, style, unmistakable romance, and fun family activities have helped shape Walker’s Bluff into a sought-after location for events. Many of our public events, such as holiday dining and fun family breakfast events are held at Legends. This venue was recently changed into an exclusive event center due to the high demand for private and public events. The number of venues available at Walker’s Bluff allows for a variety of options ideal for several types of indoor and outdoor interests.
