Williamson County Historical Museum

The historical society located in the old Williamson County Jail at 105 S. Van Buren in Marion, Illinois houses an excellent genealogy and historical research library. There are many displays of period furniture, tools, entertainment, clothing, military uniforms and much more. Free WiFi is made available for researchers.

Historical & Genealogical Research

The Society collects and preserves materials, printed and non-printed relating to the history, traditions and people of this county of Illinois.

Displays

There are many displays of period furniture, tools, entertainment, clothing, military uniforms and much more. Each room is staged to replicate a historic period.

Book Store

In addition to their book collection you can purchase records of births, marriage certificate and more dating back to the civil war.

Tips for Williamson County Historical Museum

Hours of Operations – Regular hours are Monday-Saturday 9:30am-3pm from February through November.  After Thanksgiving, the museum is reduced to Saturday operation: 10am to 3pm.

Research – Free Wi-Fi is available for research.
