National Endowment for the Arts – Big Read
On Thursday, September 17 Marion Carnegie Library will host its NEA Big Read
Opening Reception from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Join us for this come-and-go reception and
receive a complimentary copy of our book pick: Harriet Tubman: The Journey to Free-
dom by Catherine Clinton while supplies last.
Following this event, join us on September 21st at 5:30 p.m. for a presentation by Con-
nie Martin, MA speaking on Pre-Civil War Quilts: Secret codes to Freedom on the Un-
derground RailroadTM . Connie provides an American historical information presenta-
tion, from research on her family history, to reveal secret codes in quilts as a 6th genera-
tion descendant of enslaved Africans in Kentucky.
