The Journey Back: A VR Experience Holocaust Remembrance
Presented by the Herrin History Room in partnership with the Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center, Herrin City Library will host Free viewings of two short virtual reality films until Friday, November 1, 2024.
Run time for each film is approximately 15 minutes, please allow 45 minutes for complete viewing. Walk-ins are welcome when available, but reservations are strongly encouraged. Stop by or call the circulation desk to make a reservation. Must be 13 years of age and ages 13-15 must be accompanied by an adult, a maximum of 10 people may view at one time.
“Walk” with Holocaust Survivors through childhood hometowns and concentration camps as they share their stories of survival, creating an unforgettable experience. With “A Promise Kept,” journey to the notorious Auschwitz killing center and hear from Survivor Fritzie Fritzshall as she fulfills her promise to the 599 women who helped save her life. “Don’t Forget Me” bears witness to Survivor George Brent’s will to survive in the face of Nazi tyranny as he guides viewers through Auschwitz, Mauthausen, and Ebensee concentration camps.
