Southern Illinois Irish Festival

The Celtic Fair will feature two outdoor stages both days, with performances by Saint Louis-area Irish and Scottish groups like The Wee Heavies, The Brianna Brown Band, Buckley & Walsh, and Celtica, along with Southern Illinois Celtic bands The Dorians and Roisín Dubh, and the local ensemble Heart Strings.  The Sunday lineup also includes some popular regional Americana bands.  The Festival includes food and drink for sale, merchandise vendors, Scottish Highland Games, bouncy houses for children, an Irish children’s village, piper Sean Folsom, Magic Storyteller Chris McBrien, and Liam the Extra-Large Leprechaun.
 
Admission is $10 for adults and Free for children under 18.  Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.

David Phelps Live

David Phelps was part of the Gaither Vocal Band from 1997–2005 and again from 2009–2017. He shared the tenor part with Wes Hampton from 2009–2017. In early 2017, he left the group to focus on his solo career. He was replaced by Reggie Smith. Phelps has received Grammy and Dove Awards and has had several platinum-selling projects. Southern Illinois Irish Festival

The 21st annual Southern Illinios Irish Festival is coming back the weekend of October 7th and 8th!  The outdoor Celtic fair will be on Saturday from 11am-6pm and Sunday 12pm-6pm.  There will be live music both days including: the Heart Strings, Brianna Brown Band, The Dorians, Roisin Dubh, and the Wee Heavies!  There will be food and drink available for purchase, a variety of merchandise vendors, the Scottish Highland Games (they will be doing a demo on Saturday and the games will take place on Sunday), Irish Children's Village, piper Sean Folsom, a balloon artist, and a face painter. Admission to the festival grounds will be $10 per adult, and free for children under 18.  Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.

Block Par-Tee

Marion Chamber of Commerce presents the inaugural Block Par-tee: Community Fest & Bag Board/Putt-putt Tournament!  The event will include food, drinks, prizes, games, vendors, networking and more! 
 
The Putt-Putt tournament will be held from 4-8 p.m.  Vendors in the Block Par-tee will design their own holes in the Putt-Putt Tournament and will record scores of all Putt-Putt players at their vendor space.  A prize will be given to the best overall score.
 
The Banterra Bank Bag Tournament will begin at 5 p.m.  50% of registration goes to payouts.  The cost to register a team for the tournament is $40/team.
 
Everyone is welcome to be a vendor at the Block Par-tee.  Vendors for the Block Par-tee can begin setup at 3 p.m. along Heartland Regional Medical Center's Serenity Trail.  The event will begin at 4 p.m.  To display your goods/services at the Block Par-tee the fee varies.

Come out to the Marion Cultural and Civic Center and autition for different roles in Willy Wonka! Main Role, Featured Dancer and Ensemble Auditions are Monday October 16th, and Tuesday October 17th 6pm-9pm at the Marion Civic Center. You only need to audition one of these days. Everyone who registers will audition. All auditions are integrated for Willy Wonka. Meaning there is no separate Featured Dancer audition night. See below for more details.
Main Role Auditions: 
Please prepare a short monologue(30 seconds) and 16-24 bars of a song, preferably musical theater genre and preferably sheet music, there will be a pianist available. We will allow music on a CD this year! We understand not everyone has easy access to sheet music or a piano. Bring your dance shoes, if you have some, you will be learning a short choreographed combination for auditions.
Featured Dancer Only & Ensemble Auditions:
If you are auditioning for a Featured Dancer Only role, please mark that on your registration form. After you register or you register your child, they will come on stage with a handful of other kids so we can meet them. We’ll ask them to tell us their name, something about themselves, a hobby or what they like. Everyone auditioning for Featured Dancer Only or Ensemble will sing "Happy Birthday" with the accompanist. Bring your dance shoes, if you have some, you will be learning a short choreographed combination.
After Tuesday’s auditions we’ll post a callback list on Kre8ive’s Facebook page and Website. Callback date and time TBD, at the New Kre8ive building in Herrin. They will consist of readings and music from Willy Wonka.
