MMS Open

The 2nd Annual MMS Open Putt - Putt competition is just around the corner! Come and join in on the fun as we play putt-putt golf throughout our downtown establishments. The event starts at 11:00 a.m. at Bennie's, bounces to India Delight, The Marion Elk's, John Browns, Martini Joe's, and Pookies! Those competing in the event get a drink ticket for each location, a MMS Open T-shirt, food throughout the day, and a chance to win the MMS Open trophy/cash prize! The event will end at Pookie's around 4:00 and Sean Hopkins will take the stage to keep the party going with a 2 hour set. This is a really fun event and proceeds go back into the downtown area. Tickets are $50 per person and can be purchased by messaging the Marion Main Street FB page, or calling 993-6424.

The Miners have partnered with 4-H for the 2017 Solar Eclipse.  Experience the Solar Eclipse with activities for the whole family at Rent One Park, Home of the Miners, on August 21st 10am-3pm.
 
Activities will include: 4-H Virtual Reality, Create in 4H's Makey-Makey Computer Science Lab, meet with University Astrologists for the latest Eclipse news, as well as look through the large telescope, laser tag and mini golf.

Block Par-Tee

Marion Chamber of Commerce presents the inaugural Block Par-tee: Community Fest & Bag Board/Putt-putt Tournament!  The event will include food, drinks, prizes, games, vendors, networking and more! 
 
The Putt-Putt tournament will be held from 4-8 p.m.  Vendors in the Block Par-tee will design their own holes in the Putt-Putt Tournament and will record scores of all Putt-Putt players at their vendor space.  A prize will be given to the best overall score.
 
The Banterra Bank Bag Tournament will begin at 5 p.m.  50% of registration goes to payouts.  The cost to register a team for the tournament is $40/team.
 
Everyone is welcome to be a vendor at the Block Par-tee.  Vendors for the Block Par-tee can begin setup at 3 p.m. along Heartland Regional Medical Center's Serenity Trail.  The event will begin at 4 p.m.  To display your goods/services at the Block Par-tee the fee varies.

Crappie USA Super Tournament

Crappie USA Inc., “America’s Premier National Crappie Fishing Tournament Organization” will hold the first of four $10,000 Super Events on the waters of Lake of Egypt at Marion, Illinois from March 9th-11th, 2017.  Anglers will be fishing for a 7-fish limit of crappie each day, which could net them a piece of the $10,000 in cash and prizes along with the opportunity to advance to the Cabela’s Crappie USA Classic, the most prestigious event in crappie fishing today.
 
A Kids Fishing Rodeo will be held on Saturday the 11th at the Elks Pavilion on the Lake of Egypt.
 
Registration and Seminar: A pre-tournament seminar will be held on Thursday evening the 9th at The Pavilion- 1602 Sioux Drive in Marion.  Sign-up will begin at 5pm with the meeting and a National Sponsor Field Test Product Drawing starting at 7pm local time.  This seminar is open to the public.  For those not fishing the event, we encourage you to come out to this meeting and meet the top crappie anglers in the region.
 
Crappie USA offers more than just an event for the top anglers in the region and nation.  The Amateur Division offers a chance for local and new up and coming anglers the opportunity to fish on a competitive level at half the cost of the Semi-Pro entry fee.

River-to-River Relay

The River-to-River (R2R) race is a popular, annual 80-mile relay race held in Southern Illinois in mid-April.  240 eight-member teams from around the country compete.  The 8 members of each team run 3 cycles of approximately 3.3 miles while maintaining a specific order.  The course starts near the Mississippi River by Wolf Lake, IL and proceeds over 80 hilly and curvy miles of 2-lane highways to Golconda on the banks of the Ohio River.
