Crappie USA Super Tournament on Lake of Egypt

Crappie USA Inc., “America’s Premier National Crappie Fishing Tournament Organization” will hold the first of four $10,000.00 Super Events on the waters of Lake of Egypt at Marion, Illinois March 17th-18th, 2017. Anglers will be fishing for a 7-fish limit of crappie each day, which could net them a piece of the $10,000.00 in cash and prizes along with the opportunity to advance to the Cabela’s Crappie USA Classic, the most prestigious event in crappie fishing today.
A Kids Fishing Rodeo will be held on Saturday the 18th at the Elks Pavilion on the Lake of Egypt.
 
Registration and Seminar: A pre-tournament seminar will be held on Thursday evening the 16th at The Pavilion- 1602 Sioux Drive in Marion.  Sign-up will begin at 5pm with the meeting and a National Sponsor Field Test Product Drawing starting at 7pm local time.  This seminar is open to the public.  For those not fishing the event, we encourage you to come out to this meeting and meet the top crappie anglers in the region.
 
Crappie USA offers more than just an event for the top anglers in the region and nation.  The Amateur Division offers a chance for local and new up and coming anglers the opportunity to fish on a competitive level at half the cost of the Semi-Pro entry fee.

River-to-River Relay

Registration opens Tuesday, October 25, 2016 @ 6:00pm CDT
 
The River-to-River (R2R) race is a popular, annual 80-mile relay race held in southern Illinois in mid-April.  240 eight-member teams from around the country compete.  The 8 members of each team run 3 cycles of approximately 3.3 miles while maintaining a specific order.  The course starts near the Mississippi river by Wolf Lake, IL and proceeds over 80 hilly and curvy miles of 2 lane highways to Golconda on the banks of the Ohio River.

Crab Orchard Kennel Club AKC Dog Show

The Crab Orchard Kennel Club will host their 59th annual AKC Dog Show at the Pavilion in Marion.  Admission is $5, children 10 and under are Free.  Over 600 dogs representing more than 130 different breeds will be competing for the coveted title of Best in Show both days.  A judging program with breed ring times will be available at www.onofrio.com.  There will be special clinics available by appointment only, concessions, and vendors selling dog-related items.  Only dogs entered in the show will be allowed in, no strollers or baby carriages will be allowed for the safety of children and dogs.

Christmas in Carterville

The Annual Christmas in Carterville is a free community event that is sponsored by the City of Carterville, with help from many local businesses and volunteers.  The Downtown streets are closed-off in the afternoon to allow for a safe and fun Christmas experience. The first Friday in December, downtown businesses open their doors to provide endless options for memory making with families. From visits with Santa, hot cider, hot chocolate, chilli, hot dogs, barbeques, ornament making, candy land trail, and letters to Santa to carriage rides, live entertainment and more, the downtown streets buzz with excitement. Carolers, kettle corn, cookies, christmas trees and wreaths help bring people together to celebrate the season.
