The City of Herrin and the Herrin Chamber of Commerce present HerrinFesta Italiana- voted Best Event or Festival at the 2014 Illinois Governor's Conference on Travel & Tourism.  This year marks the festival's 27th year and will run from May 22nd through May 29th.  This weeklong celebration of Italian heritage includes a grand parade, a variety of contests, concerts with world famous recording artists, a midway carnival and much more.  See the full week's event details below:

Southern Illinois Music Festival

Southern Illinois Music Festival features over three dozen performances at various venues throughout Southern Illinois.  Professional musicians from North and South America, Europe and Asia perform orchestral and chamber music, opera, ballet, jazz and new music in and informal and inviting atmosphere.  Join in for a great season of music at the Marion Cultural and Civic Center. The theme for the 2017 season is “An Offer You Can’t Refuse.”

Southern Illinois Irish Festival

The Celtic Fair will feature two outdoor stages both days, with performances by Saint Louis-area Irish and Scottish groups like The Wee Heavies, The Brianna Brown Band, Buckley & Walsh, and Celtica, along with Southern Illinois Celtic bands The Dorians and Roisín Dubh, and the local ensemble Heart Strings.  The Sunday lineup also includes some popular regional Americana bands.  The Festival includes food and drink for sale, merchandise vendors, Scottish Highland Games, bouncy houses for children, an Irish children’s village, piper Sean Folsom, Magic Storyteller Chris McBrien, and Liam the Extra-Large Leprechaun.
 
Admission is $10 for adults and Free for children under 18.  Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.
